EWS Application Form West Bengal PDF

The West Bengal government has introduced a new scheme called Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) for students and job seekers in the general category. By obtaining an EWS Certificate, candidates are entitled to a 10% reservation in both government services and admission to educational institutions in West Bengal. This reservation is specifically designed to benefit individuals from the EWS who are not covered under the existing reservation schemes for SC/ST and OBC categories. It ensures that they have equal opportunities in direct recruitment for civil posts and services within the West Bengal government. Additionally, it grants them preferential treatment in the admission process for educational institutions across the state.

The EWS certificate is a valuable document that opens up various benefits and opportunities for individuals who fall under the economically weaker sections. With this certificate, you can avail yourself of a 10% reservation in any educational institution or government service in West Bengal. This reservation is intended to level the playing field and provide equal opportunities for those who may face financial constraints.

By offering this reservation, the West Bengal government aims to create a fair and inclusive society, where individuals from economically weaker backgrounds have access to quality education and employment opportunities. This initiative recognizes the importance of providing support and assistance to those who may face financial hardships, ensuring that they are not left behind in the pursuit of their goals.

It’s important to note that the EWS certificate is a crucial document for individuals seeking to benefit from these reservations. To obtain the certificate, you need to meet the specified criteria outlined by the West Bengal government. It is advisable to reach out to the appropriate authorities or government offices to understand the exact requirements and procedures for obtaining the EWS certificate. Having this certificate not only grants you access to reserved seats in educational institutions and government services but also serves as a recognition of your economic status. It symbolizes the government’s commitment to supporting individuals from economically weaker sections and providing them with equal opportunities to thrive.

West Bengal EWS Certificate Eligibility Criteria

  • If you do not belong to the SC/ST/OBC or any other minority community, you can apply for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) certificate. This certificate is designed to provide opportunities for individuals who may not have access to reserved benefits based on their community status.
  • To be eligible for the EWS certificate, the gross family income from all sources, such as salary, profession, job, business, etc., should not exceed 8 lakhs per year. The income of the year before the year of application for the EWS certificate will be considered for verification.

If a family owns property in different locations, all those properties will be assessed as one single unit.
  • When applying for the EWS certificate, the family of the applicant includes the applicant themselves, their parents, spouse, siblings, and children below 18 years of age. This ensures that the certificate is granted to individuals who genuinely belong to economically weaker sections and need support.
