A 7.5 percent reservation is provided to Government School students across all categories of reservation in Tamil Nadu. When it comes to medical education, the state of Tamil Nadu offers a total of 7,400 seats for MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) and 2,873 seats for BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) in various medical colleges. These seats are available for eligible candidates who have qualified the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). The NEET Counselling for Tamil Nadu will take place after the NEET 2023 examination, providing a platform for eligible candidates to choose their preferred medical colleges and courses.

For the 7.5 percent government quota seats, a total of 454 seats are allotted for medical MBBS courses and 104 seats for dental BDS courses.
